Not a lot of fasteners holding the manifold in place. And even fewer securing the cam covers. I wonder where they've be fitted?

Jason Len of XKs Unlimited told me one of their customers did that once. They sent him a set of refurbed SUs for a Series 2 and complained of fuel leakage.

He didn't believe it until he saw a photo. Now I have too. Incroyable!

Actuellement, this is the ingenious French solution to the problem of using Mark 10 carburetters on an E type. Why didn't we think of it ?

Well no, actually this specific engine was meant for the australian market down under. It's just the engine mounts wrong, they have to be refitted upside down and all will be well.

And anyway, instead of pecking on the french, we should focus on the positives. See, the cam covers are fitted nicely left-right, for instance.
