#1 Jag Lovers Forum

Post by AussieEtype » Fri Nov 25, 2016 12:38 am

I also post on the Jag Lovers forum in the E-Type section. They have migrated to a new site and nothing is working for me.

It does not recognise my login and when I tell it to reset my passwords etc nothing happens.

When I try to create a new account my old information such as my email is in the system so prevents me from creating a new account.

Because I cannot log in I cannot raise the issues I am having - does anyone have an email address that I can email the administrators of the site without have having to go through the site.

Thanks

Garry, and anyone else for that matter.

You can use me as a contact, I am a moderator (since sometime yesterday)

We had a problem with Mail when the site went live, which has resulted in a large outgoing mail backlog.

Mails are going out and people are managing to register (by sending a password_reset mail to the same email as their old JL account used), so please be a bit more patient and wait for the password_reset mail to arrive.

Once the mail backlog is cleared performance should improve and people can log in using their old email we can get rid of the duplicate accounts.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew - I will sit tight and wait

I assume old emails/site name remained valid but all passwords had to be reset.

Cheers

Hi Gary,

I had the same problem yesterday and sent an email for password reset. It arrived this morning and I can now access the forum.

I suspect the problem is the requirement for a 10 digit password; my original was 6.

I'm finding the forum a little confusing at the moment; there seems to be posts within posts?? but I'm sure it will get there.

The software JL are using is called 'Discourse' and is essentially that - giving the ability to have conversations much like Facebook or Twitter. It continues on from the email style of the old JL Forums but allowing the inclusion of photos and other material in the conversation.

Click the log-on button and enter your email (same one you registered with) and then click "I forgot my password". Then, if you're lucky, you'll get an email enabling you to reset the password. It now needs to be 10 characters, as already mentioned.

My reset email took a day to arrive but I think things have got better since.

All sorted now - it took 24 hours for the emails to come through and then when used were out of date but going through the process again worked immediately.

I didn't like the old format and not so sure about the new format but I have learnt that it is better to wait and use the new arrangement as you get used to it and a number of the initial issues sort them selves.

Thanks for the help

Yes, I'm up and running now thanks to the advice. I shall get used to the new style in due course ; meanwhile, the best bit about it is the ability to edit posts, which was a grave deficiency on the old JL forum

[*] the best bit about it is the ability to edit posts,[*]

That, and the ability to include photos (same as here). I think that is a big improvement. The E-Type section has a practice thread running right now for people to test out the feature.
