The 'E' Type Forum

A quick trawl of the inter web had me looking at E-Types being offered as 'to be restored to concours standard'. 'Yours for only £130k for a car that when finished could be worth over £200k.' At least two of those on offer were for S12+2s, to be restored by 'experienced E-Type restorers' you've never heard of. Payment by monthly instalments if you please!

Is it that easy to hoodwink punters?

Nice to know that your sitting in over £130k though Chris actually now im retired would like to take on a full resto...but dont really think they are worth the cost now.....

There are many adds that look speculative to me....recent prices paid at auction have, I suspect, encouraged people to advertise in the hope that someone with a suitcase of cash but no idea shows up....

My local garage (excellent but not in the moss post league) had a late series 1 4.2 OTS brought in by a customer. Full restoration. He had paid £50k for the car including shipping from the U.S..

The thing was rust....everywhere....cills, bonnet, floors, boot, A posts, wings.....everywhere there was rust and big holes. I think if you had sat in it it might just have snapped...engine was probably seized too.

Last I heard the garage had heaved a sigh of relief when the owner had it shipped to somewhere in Scotland....so watch out for a black ots for sale some time.....and unless it is done and starts on the turn of the key run away very fast as it would take lorry loads of cash to fix.
