series 2 number plate finisher

HI I have a series 2 2+2 1969 imported from north carolina sold originaly from the newyork dealer, my question is about the rear number plate finisher, i have noticed other series 2s having a silver plate that sits accross the back between the rear lights where the number plate sits, mine hasnt got this or ever seems to have had one ? the car seems to be completely original down to the last screw, well it was ! do all the mk2s have this plate or do the american ones have a different rear ?
