Automatic Transmission leak.

Hi Everyone,
I have a USA import and have a leak from the front where it meets the engine , I believe it is the seal.
Can i change it without fully removing the transmission
Any help appreciated.

I have booked ramp space to do this job next week.
I have not received any response yet from forum.
Appreciate any advice if anyone has any advice.

Hi Brian...sorry you havent had a reply.....im not really up on S3 auto,s......but it would help if you posted a photo.....leak at the front? Engine oil or transmission fluid..........Steve

Great to hear off someone

Definitely transmission oil.
I believe it is from between the auto box and engine
and can put some photos on once on the ramp.
I believe I read something that you can move the box
back enough to change the gasket

Hi Brian....the gearbox sits at the rear of the bellhouseing.......but the torque convertor sits further forward and is full of oil.....sorry mate cant go any further....Steve

If it is definitely transmission oil the most likely leak is from the torque converter seal. Requires the transmission to come out.

Hi ,
I had a similar leak from my S3, it was the the front gearbox seal .its not an expensive repair just gently prise the old seal out and replace with a new one .
I took the gearbox out when doing my repair, this can be done without taking the engine out.

I will update you fully when I have my car up on
the ramp this week.
Looks like I will have to remove the automatic
transmission.Advice on this welcome.
