My rear bump stop bracket binding badly

I removed the rubber ground the remaining brackets about 1/4 inch. Finally fitting my rear and wheels and still my 205s on 5” rims are fully tight together. I’m depressed! I actually have plenty of clearance to the quarter panel. Almost feel I built the differential wrong.
I phoned Motor wheel service and I’m contemplating ordering two with custom offset$!
I’m not sure fully removing the bracket would solve it, but I guess I’ll have to. My whole wheel needs to move out about 3/4”

Are they 15inch wheels....or 16in......if from MWS whats the code number........what splined hubs are fitted...and was it the original IRS unit......rear looks very high at rear in photo..is it on jacks.....Steve

Standard splines, standard motor wheel service wheels, it’s actually pretty much all mostly stock aside from the tires and lower tow plate. body had no damage in the areas of the bump stops. The quarter skins were replaced and I deliberately made them a little proud for clearance. My friend who died had started this car and the rear was disassembled but not modified to my knowledge. And all etype parts brakes from S2 car, It’s sitting high as it’s tight up against the body brackets at least that’s what I think? I finished getting it off my stand on wheels last night, I have been thinking all morning and don’t know why. Thanks

You will need to remove the bump stop altogether . That should cure the inner rubbing, but it will not affect the possibility that you will not be able to get the wheel on or off without deflating the tyre because of the outer edge fouling the wheel arch. Candidly, 205s ruin the feel of S1 or S2 E types , and your cheapest solution is to put 185/15s on which in any event make the car much more sensitive and less like a truck to drive

I know what you are saying to be true. About the ride, not from first had experience though. This car will probably mostly be garage candy, I am trying to copy this car that I love. Im actually thinking, at double the cost of getting Motor wheel service the custom build 2 wheels, they said they will, didn’t mention a time to build though.
I thought I had researched this subject enough but obviously not, it seems drift from car to car is likely why some can simply remove the rubber stop, and others like me, will be doing some further cursing! Lol

There should be no need to have custom wheels made for the rear......you would then need 2 spares..one for front and one for rear.........some remove bump stop completely others just need to shave them...depends on tyres.....dont recognise your tyres....so possibly ther are extra wide.....can you loan a wheel/tyre from somewhere local to try on the rear

I’ll do some measuring, then pull the wheels off tonight and try to figure what the problem is. Really hate to disturb the body now, agree with everything you have said.

Did some cutting and grinding now have 3/8 of an inch clearance. Appears to be pretty much all I will get, the wheel comes of easy. Hopefully the height drops some more when it’s at final driving weight. Thanks
