#1 coil, ballast resistor??? 67 with points,

Hi, I have two coils that came with basket case car, no markings on them, how do I know if I need a ballast resistor on one of them?? Thanks Mike.

In the interests of reliability of your completed car I would think that the cost of a new Lucas coil for it would be a wise investment. Price in the UK would be less than £20. :smile:

The S1 cars did not use ballast coils, the S2 did.

Also if keeping a points system invest in new rotor arm, points and condenser from the Distributor Doctor, or new old stock items, not brand new ones even if they are in lucas packs.

Hi Mike.
Typically, ballast resistor coils are just over 1 ohm,
non-ballast coils are around 3 ohms.
That’s the one you should use.
