67 fhc generator or alternator??

Folks, real basket case, last owner said it had a generator and not an alternator, others have
told me it should be alternator, but I found a black.blue wire in harness and after going to
diagram of harness to the right side of display it does show a box with generator with black/blue and black/brown. I did purchase an alternator but wires going to alternator do not look correct.
so IF it should be a generator is the regulator still the same that is mounted on the lower driver side
under the bonnet. Thanks Mike.

I'm pretty sure that they changed from positive to negative earth with the introduction of the 4.2 engine and that this was accompanied by a change from generator to alternator.

The control box on the left hand side of the bulkhead was replaced by a regulator, which was separate to the alternator.

Looking at the wiring diagrams there doesn't appear to be any wires with blue traces around the alternator and regulator connections.

Are you sure it's a 67 & original 4.2, check the VIN & engine no's.

All 4.2 litre cars had alternators, so any car from about October 1964 onwards should have an alternator. The likelihood is that your basket case is in fact a 3.8 car from mid 1964 or earlier

On a standard car no need to change anything other than swap a few wires around and flash the generator.
