As my E turned 90000 miles, the odometer has stuck at 89999 and a bit. The trip meter has jammed also, however the speedo still works fine.
Would anyone know if this is an easy diy fix or is it necessary to send it away for a refurb to one of the Speedo specialists?
Thank you
Simon

#2 Re: Odometer Stuck
I've had a couple of times when this occurred with Smiths speedometers, though not E type. In both cases, a plastic geared wheel had stripped a few teeth (possibly due to my lack of lubricating the drive cable-but who really does that?). In one case I was able to borrow the part from a cosmetically inferior spare I had from another car. Not an easy task, as I recall, but working in the end. In the other case, it went to a specialist.
The moral, I suppose, is that if you can identify the cause and can obtain spare bits, then it's within the realm of DIY. Otherwise best to spend the coin for expert service.
