#1 Cylinder Head Nut Torque Spec E-Type Series 2

Post by Blue Streak » Tue Feb 18, 2025 9:09 am

Hi Folks,

Quick question on the correct cylinder head nut torque for a 1969 Series 2 E Type, it's the long stud block so after 7R1916 engine. In Haynes it says 54 lb/ft but maybe 58 lb/ft if you are using a composite gasket (I'm using a Payen composite gasket). However in a Jaguar service bulletin in January 1970 it said 50lb/ft for these engines. Anyone know the right answer, thanks in advance.

Rob.

Possibly the torque was reduced due to the longer studs being used.....if Jaguar put it in a Service bulletin then that's what I would go with unless an engine builder could give a decent explanation.....might be worth chatting to Rob Beere raceing....google them...Steve
