Oil return hose question

Can this hose be replaced without dismantling any parts from the engine block or the sump or draining the oil? Thanks for your help.

No dismantling required, but the top of the lower fitting may be below the oil level in the pan, so have a drain pan ready to catch any oil. You should be able to do the swap quickly enough to not make too huge of a mess, nor lose too much oil. And use a proper oil rated hose, not heater hose, if you want it to remain leak free. Also note the lower fitting diameter is smaller (1/2"?) than that on the oil filter adaptor housing (5/8"?). Some suppliers may have a dual diameter hose available, which is recommended.

Thanks for your input, the hose was purchased from one of usual suppliers and is rated as such. As the car will be on stands supporting the front in the air, I guess the oil in the pan will flow to the rear of the pan…..I will have the hose ready with the clamps installed and the correct socket and spammer at the ready….thanks again.

As mentioned on the forum before, double up the lower section with 2 jubilee clips. I attempted to locate a UK supplier for this pipe, with two different diameters, to no avail. One US supplier and a UK restorer, who apparently have them, didn't even reply to my email requests. Not a drip from mine, to date.
