#1 Bonnet Springs

Post by tim wood » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:47 pm

Hi all,

I am sure that somewhere i have seen stronger bonnet springs on offer for the series 1 but cant for now think where this was.
Mine seem to slowly lower the bonnet unless it is just the right balance position.
Could do with replacing mine when i refit the bonnet.

Any thoughts about suppliers ?

thanks to all

Tim

Tim have you tried adjusting the position of the brackets?

Hi Tim
AJ Autocraft sell a 10% overwound set. Have fitted a set to mine and they were perfect, as my bonnet kept falling down too. The originals lose tension after so long.
hope this is useful.

Thanks both. I'll try adjustment first but will probably move to the new springs

Tim : be warned about stronger springs . If you fit them, there is a tendency for the bonnet to fly up very abruptly, and if by any chance you are low at the front, or have left something near the "mouth" there is a real chance of causing damage

I bought a set of new springs from S.N.G Barratt, perfect fit and balance.
