#1 Series 1 aluminium centre dash replacement

Post by ollieamb » Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:02 pm

Recently bought the aluminium kit from sgn Barrett and to be honest is a very good replacement, however! It has become evident that I may not have the original centre dash.

When I bought the car someone had covered the aluminium in black vinyl, horrible! So I removed it to find 1000's of scratches etc... So left the centre dash until now.

It seems that the previous owner must of swapped the centre dash for a later one covered in black vinyl... I have obviously gone to fit the new aluminium over this but there seems to be a lip at the top of the aluminium so it won't sit flush with the centre dash... Question is do I cut the lip off the brass console or the aluminium sheet. I don't really want a sharp edge at the top of the Alu but don't know the best way to cut the brass.

Any one have a picture of the original series 1 centre dash pulled down so I can compare?? Was there two different centre dashes?
