Lucas 131 SA Indicator Switch
#1 Lucas 131 SA Indicator Switch
After hours of trying to solve a problem it turns out some of the cables have detached themselves from the rear of my switch, i would be obliged if someone could give me a photo or diagram for the correct wiring to the rear of the switch itself,
Thanks

Peter,
I see on closer inspection that the indicator in the above photographs is marked 'Model 85'. This should be what you are after...

You're welcome Peter. The car is still at the 'uphill struggle' stage but I'm glad to have one like that than at none at all! Hope to catch up with you soon.

Just sending my last few parts for chroming and looking at the indicator stalk and rear view mirror. Can the stalk be stripped from the mechanism and the knob removed? Do t want o ruin it trying so thought someone may know. Also is it possible to remove the chrome arm from the rear view mirror series one 3.8?
Thanks for any help. Andrew

The stalk is splined onto the switch and can be removed with care. It is a tight fit. The plastic knob can also be removed. I put mine into hot water to expand it a little and pulled it off.

I have a model 85 version and the plastic spring arm has snapped on one side. Has anyone managed to repair this before?
If it's not possible its a whole new assembly, unless some kind soul has a good condition one they would be prepared to sell... :)

It is possible to repair a model 85. Replacement plastic springs occasionally turn up on eBay. IIRC the last ones sold for about £40, and that was without the rivet necessary to clamp the whole assembly back together again! When I repaired mine, I found it cheaper to buy a replacement indicator stalk for an MGB and cannibalise it for its plastic spring, which is just the same. I had to be very careful unfolding the rivet though, so I could re-use it.
Regards,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info. I'll take a look around for the MGB stalk.
Best regards,
