Thanks Paul
Just to clarify, I wasn't stating as fact that you had excluded yourself from a big market on the basis of zero complaints. I was querying what seemed to be implied by linking those two facts and suggesting people ask you direct. Since linking them didn't make much sense I assumed there must be another reason, which you have explained.

I can quite understand you feeling it might not be worthwhile selling a high-demand batch-supplied product in the UK if others steal your designs. But if the deed has been done then presumably selling your own product against theirs is not risky anymore because they can't copy twice unless there are design changes?

Anyway, on a personal note if you're still checking this forum, does your limited batch constraint apply to conversion kits or just full gearboxes? I have a refurbed World Class 1352-065 which I'll need to convert to E-type length unless it can go in, say, an XJ-S or XJ12 with suitable output yoke and mount etc?

I'm just selling complete kits, since the conversion kit idea saddled me with too much tech support. The conversion kit idea was for people who were capable of building their own gearbox and was never met as something requiring me to walk them through turning every nut and bolt.

Peter I understand the nature of your thread and I'm glad you understand. Example ELITE, was mentioned on this thread as a company selling a 5speed kit. The point is, nobody cares about the fact the Dwatson and Elite made copies of my castings, literally making molds off of Medatronics parts. Its a mess, because they appear to look like my transmissions but internally are filled with used 2nd hand parts. Sometimes taiwanese parts. The copying and dishonestly of UK vendors sometimes representing these products as mine to get sales is oddly a UK only issue. No other shops in the EU behave in this manner.
Thanks,

Paul

Can I suggest the five speed gearbox from E Type Fabrications, with optional top ratios. It can be fitted without any modifications whatsoever and only needs a different mounting plate that is supplied.
I fitted mine 3years ago and have no complaints.
Have a look at their website for further info.

I can understand your kit of parts stance. I know someone who needed that service. Can't be much mileage in it for you.

I don't hold a torch for Elite but do know that when I needed some 5th gear parts for a non E-type T5 some years ago, they couldn't supply because they had no suitable parts. They said they could really only supply bits by breaking complete new boxes, which they did do when necessary. Until their next batch of new T5s came in from the States they had none to use as a spare parts donor but did eventually supply me. <shrug>

Thanks,

Good tip - my home town.

Except now I live in Maryland I'd be a customer of yours. I think a T5 V12 bell and throw out are in my future...
