#1 steering rack 8 tooth or standard 7 tooth ?

Post by ca1066 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 5:20 am

I am planning the lhd to rhd conversion of my S2 FHC. I would appreciate any members comments on whether it is preferable to fit the 8 tooth " fast rack" I often see advertised or to stick with the standard 7 tooth manual rack. The car is to be used for normal town type driving. Many thanks . Paul

Stick to the standard rack - it is quite fast enough for all normal driving . All you will do with a "faster" rack is make the steering unacceptably heavy at low speeds

Thanks Christopher thats what I was afraid of. I will stick to the standard. I am in Cape Town S.A. so would love to find a second hand one. Will keep looking otherwise will search the usual suppliers.
