Jonny

I am still puzzled by how two of your spinners becoming loose on your recent trip. All my research into the Rudge Whitworth system tells me that whilst they are not self tightening they are normally self locking. That is you tighten them to a point and they stay there. Yours somehow became loose which I find worrying. Were the two loose spinners on the front axles? If so can you check to see if the spinners are marked 'Nearside' on the left of the car and 'Offside' on the right of the car. There have been instances where during a rebuild the hubs have been crossed over

Also are your spinners repro or original Jaguar? You can check this by comparing the Jaguar logo on the spinner with the one on the oil filler cap. They should be identical on originals.

I did notice when Johnny first posted the knocking issue that the photo posted had vented discs, so uprated calipers and probably replacement hubs......Steve

Hi David/ Steve, Ashamed to say that I have never checked that the spinners were tight, since I bought it a year ago :?: . Its also been in having work done on the brakes so may have been left like that by the garage. It was the offside front and nearside rear that needed tightening. It definitely fixed the problem.

From memory I tightened clockwise on the nearside and anti on the offside.
