Recognising there are some old posts on here regarding Signal Red paint. Just re-posting in the hope of any new information.
The paint shop I am planning to use for some cosmetic paintwork is struggling to find a code for 1970 Signal red.
Halfords could not find it either.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

You can compare the code of 7650 which David has just posted with a generic BL Signal Red which as far as I know is identical ( it was originally a Triumph colour )

You can compare them - then you'll find some seven or so different signal reds from different years and different marques.
The safest thing to do is to take the filler cap to your painter and ask him to match that. They will then scan it and make up the equivalent using the paint system they will be using.
If it were not for the fact that I cannot warrant that my car were the correct signal red, then I'd let you have the paint code for my car.
kind regards
Marek

As you state Marek - it's a bit of a minefield. I am only having the lower rear panels repainted (rear of door round to rear of door) so needs to be a good match.
5670 found online on e-Bay so purchased a spray can to try it. Put some on a card and it looks okay. Have a small area of under bonnet area to re-paint so will be interesting.
Halfords gave me a touch-up bottle against code 258 - used it this afternoon on a couple spots under the bonnet so will see how it dries and polishes out. Was certainly very close on application.
Paintshop only interested in using the car's actual colour and paint-matching with a device.
Fun and games...
Want it pretty for Windsor.
As always, thanks for posts. I do enjoy this forum.

I think that the technology develops with time.
Ten years ago, it seemed to be "special" that the local professional paint factor (Brown Bros.) near Brooklands had to send things away to the paint manufacturer to obtain a guaranteed paint match, but these days, every painter has a scanner as part of the basic paint system.
This means the matching is done on site as a matter of course (even if they know the paint code) and my experience is that they give a very accurate colour match.
kind regards
Marek
