#1 Removing Air-Con on a '69 2+2

Hi,
The air-con unit on my California 2+2 is all original and complete apart from a few of the outlet plastic vents being missing. No idea if it is charged or not.
It does look quite obtrusive in the cabin though and I'm not sure of the value of it for the few weeks a year that I would need it (assuming it works and if it did if would be very effective).
Any opinions on whether originality trumps a neater interior, and does anyone have any links or info. on how to strip out the under-dash section?

Eddie, the Aircon was fitted by the factory on some cars. Personally, l would keep it and get it working (most of us use our cars when it is warm and your car being LHD is perfect for continental trips.
Removal is straightforward though and is just a case of working through it.

Hi Eddie,
I recently bought a 2+2 and opted for air conditioning, E-types generally gets quite hot in summers . I also have a OTS and it gets very hot with the roof up even at quite low temperatures when the sun is shining.
I suggest you wait removing until you have experienced how it's like, this is what will do. According to Hagerty value of car is +10% with AC.
I have just charged mine and it works fine and now waiting spring and some better weather.

Hi Eddie, I specifically sought out an A/C equipped car when looking for my S2 Coupe for exactly the reason Angus suggests.
Old closed coupes with large engines make for hot cabins and running windows down for hours on those continental trip gets very wearing (noisy and windy).
I had mine overhauled and had a modern compressor fitted and it now works a treat as well as looking original

Just wait till you have to change the water pump, with all that air-con bracketry built around it! I just ripped the air-con out of my 1971 US imported OTS. There's a heck of a lot of gubbins squeezed in there. It's a personal thing, but I don't like air-con, and in any case I can just put the roof down.
