The 'E' Type Forum

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me. I am assembling my engine ( series 2 4.2) and when I have looked inside the assembly there is what seems to be a pressure valve loose inside the houseing.
It appears it is a push fit into one of the holes I was just wondering if this is correct and which hole should be in and also which way round
