#1 Fhc tailgate catch

Post by tim wood » Sat Jun 10, 2017 8:35 pm

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to fit the chrome ring ( escutcheon) around the internal pull catch on the fhc tailgate.
I have the pull catch fitted but no matter which way I turn the chrome ring and try to line it up I cannot slip it over the catch.

Should be simple but so frustrating

Many thanks
Tim

Hi Tim.....had the same problem.....if i remember correct you have to lift the latch and whilst its up put the ring over but it only slips in one way....sorry but its just going to be trial and error moveing it around while you hold the latch up till it slips in.....have you just retrimmed the panel becaus it so it could be a bit tighter... Steve
Edit forgot to mention....if i remember correct there is a small notch in the inside of tbe ring that feeds over the lifter part then you twist it in place...if that makes sense.. Steve

It took me ages of trial and error to find a way to remove it, so I sympathise. In a few months I shall be putting it back together. I'd love to see how they fitted them at the factory. In fact there are a large number of things that I'd love to see how they fitted at the factory....
