Hi,
Can anyone confirm what material the brake & clutch pedal arms are made from? I am guessing they are cast steel, and they feel a bit light to be iron. I have the original lhd set and am going to get the local blacksmith to re-orient them to RHD spec using the pics in the lhd/rhd document from the forum. He wanted to know the material so he can make sure he gets the heat level correct before bending.
Thanks in advance.....

Having extensively re shaped my pedals I can confirm that they were forged steel. Good job too as If they had been in anything else this would have been a very poor idea. Cherry red worked fine, look for my S1 leg-length and seat modification post, not at conventional keyboard so not easy to send you link, and there are pictures of extensive tweaking.

Five minute job. Just get them cherry red & lean on them. I just did mine by guesswork & they seem to be about right. I checked them against the drawings / measurements afterwards & they seem to tally. When I get some seats in there I'll try them & tweak if necessary. All things like this are forged steel - when the Minis first came out we had to do the same with the clutch operating arm. For some reason you couldn't get enough travel to dis-engage the clutch - we had to heat the operating arm & shove the pushrod further into the slave cylinder to make it work.

Just lean on them as you heat them up, and when they get hot enough they will yield easily. Don't use more heat than you need, or they may end up in two bits!
