#1 Differential Problem

Post by jbwhitaker » Fri Nov 30, 2007 7:33 pm

Have been looking for a 3.07 diff for my 1970 Series 2 Etype since
completing nut & bolt resto 2 years ago to replace a 3.54 diff.
Bought a 3.07 diff on Ebay in Summer which I was told had come
from a Series 2. Having dropped the rear axle cage and stripped out
one side, I find that the 3.07 diff does not have the flange for
the Ser 2 calipers and is probably a Ser 1 diff. What are my
options?
Can I obtain an adapter plate so that I can use the Ser 2 calipers
on the Ser 1 Diff? If so where can I obtain?
Can the internals be swapped over into the Ser 2 diff? If so, is
this a job I can do myself or do I need a specialist?
Am I better putting the Ser 1 Diff on Ebay and search for another?
I have been told that an XJ diff is an exact replacement - is this true? and is it a limited slip diff?
Many thanks
