#1 What is this part ?

I knew I did not find the rear carb spring triangle for a reason. The one which came with the car did not fit....

Here are pictures. It is 7.5 cm between the holes, and the hole-to-hole distance is wider then the fork I also found (but which is from a 3.8. when I look at the pics at SNG's for example):

So, I'll be investing 30 Euros (ouch) for a metal triangle.

Where does the larger triangle come from ? I thought maybe engine / ignition pointer, but no.

Maybe from an XJ6 engine ? I did slought one, maybe it mixed into my stuff ?

Hard to know. Given that the stud spacing is different it might be for a 2 carb car.

Almost looks like the coil bracket that mounts on the front breather cover. Is there a stud on the other side of the pointed end?

No. There is just a tiny hole for a spring there, which made me think it is the correct part.

Whatever, it seems I don't need it for my car. So, over to the pile of "maybe to be scrapped" remooved stuff, and when the day comes, I'll sort it through and possibly it'll become a chinese car or something.

Given in my experience that replacement parts are being made to a tolerance of plus or minus 25mm now, ironically that's where it probably came from.

It is the rear carb spring anchor and fits the bottom pair of studs at the back, angled outwards IIRC. The pre-engaged 4.2 starter means it is tight with the solenoid on top. The similar-looking coil mount on the front breather cover is half the size as well as having a stud not a pin hole at the apex.

Hm. You're sayin' it is mounted on the inlet manifold studs, on top of the solenoid ? That may work indeed. I will investigate that.

Until now, I firmly believed it had to be bolted on the carb base studs- and their spacing is smaller, see the fork.

Will try !

I tried. Horrid to fit because of very limited access to the nuts, but, works.

Case proven, solved.

Thanks Pete !
