Replacement Harness

Hi all,

About to make a purchase of a complete new harness LHD 3.8 and I am looking for info on correctness, ease of install, and any purchase info you can offer. PM if necessary. Three vendors so far: Autosparks, Rhode Island Wiring and British Wiring. Thoughts on others? Thanks in advance.

I have replaced part of mine (bonnet loom) with an autosparks section. It was perfect....If doing the whole car make sure you get all the grommets etc....very important to fit them...

I used Autosparks for my complete loom, very pleased with the quality. remb to also get the odds and sods wires, you'll need most of them.
But a 9 week lead time I expect they are all busy and backed up tho.

I have heard good reports about Autosparks looms, but I wasn't overly impressed by mine.

Some of the connections were wrong; spades instead of eye type connectors; some wires missing altogether and my main criticism was that the green wires were much thinner than the originals.
This may have possibly only been that the plastic covering was thinner, but it was visually different.

Having said all that it fitted ok and after changing some of the connectors from my old loom and adding the odd wire here and there it fitted and worked fine.

I bought an engine compartment harness (and the add-ons) from SNG and am less than thrilled. While it fit fine and looks ok, I was disappointed in the thickness of the wires and that the connectors where swagged on vice being soldered on. This will allow pollutants to creep in over time and cause corrosion. I sprayed all connections with an electrical corrosion inhibitor we use on aircraft (DC4 silicone dielectric by Dow Corning) but it will eventually break down. Next time, I'll buy wiring and connections and make my own harness. Of course by then I'll be dead/senile/existing as an electronic entity and it won't matter.
