Front frame clips

Those aluminium clips that wrap round the front frames - how do you get them on without cracking the paint when you bend them open?

Hi Hugo,

Is this paint on the brackets or paint on the frames?

To protect the frames I've wrapped them with one layer of vinyl tape approx 1mm wider than the bracket.

If it's paint on a bracket, warming it up makes the paint less susceptibile to cracking but I can't guarantee it.
