#1 Lumenition Ignition

Post by StuBYD » Thu Jan 21, 2010 10:37 am

Have Series 1 EType and fitted a Lumenition Ignition system some 15 years ago. System was recently replaced by a garage when my car was in for some repairs. They claimed the system I had installed had packed up. Now find that car cuts out and have to waggle wires at the connector box in order to restart it. I believe it is the black wire, which I think is the earth, that is causing the problem. In an unsuccessful attempt at trying to get in touch with Lumenition, came accross a TR forum where quite a few people have experienced similar problems. Most indicated they intended replacing unit with a different ignition system. Has anybody any ideas or can anybody tell me how I get in touch with Lumenition.

Stewart

I have a Lumention Magnetronic system fitted into a Lucas 45D6 distributor and so far it has been perfectly reliable over 25,000 miles. No personal experience of the Lumention Optronic system though. You can contact Lumention here: http://www.newtronic.co.uk/ If you are considering a totally new ignition system the '123' distributor gets very good reviews, just make sure you get the correct JAG6 version.

David, Many thanks for the response. Don't really want to change system, which is brand new. Will contact supplier and see if they can assist.

Hi Stewart,
Sorry I don't have any experience on Lumention.
Just wanted to find out where in Devon you are?
I live around Torbay, its not often I hear of other e-type owners around these parts.
Perhaps you could send me a PM (Private Message), so that we could compare notes.
Cheers,
Nick.
