#1 Rebuilding PAS,how far to go

I have just removed my rack, tower and pump in order to replace seals in the leaking rack and to re-shim the inner ball joints. (Ive also just ordered a pressure reduction kit from Borgeson to improve the steering feel and reduce chances of more leaks.....tho Ive since read that Dick Maury dosent agree with any pressure reduction....! )
With the seal kit I purchased I have a couple of "spare" seals that I suspect fit in the tower.
Now Im not sure if the tower or the pump leak ..... there is 1/2" cake everywhere....but my question is now I have these parts out, should I replace all seals regardless?. (the cars done 56k) Do they tend to eventually leak? What are the pitfalls in doing this or is it fairly straightforward?
Any advice/experience gratefully received!
