#1 Installing Gaz Ajustable Rear Shocks

Has anyone installed the Gaz adjustable spring perch coil overs on the rear of their e type using the Gaz 325 pound springs? If so, about how much preload did you put on the springs? Not sure where a good starting point would be.

"Preload" is meaningless. You adjust for correct ride height. That is what the adjustment is there for.

I have not used them but I would ask whoever I bought them from.
Otherwise I'd probably set them in the middle and adjust them from there.

Yes you are right it adjusts the ride height. But it also increases the force required to move the spring a given distance. Because this is a constant rate spring rated at 325 lbs. for every inch of compression the force required increases 325 lbs. I believe the stock jaguar springs are around 185 lbs per inch and on a stock shock on assembly the compression of the spring is around 1”. So when installed in the car if the car drops 1”. With 2 shocks per side the force of the weight of the car is 740 lbs. So I am asking for information on where I should begin. Should I just move the perch up to the spring or should I compress it 1” similar to the stock setup. Just trying to save time and not have to totally reinvent the wheel.

Put it wherever you like, but make all four the same. Put the car on the ground, and check the ride height. Raise the car, adjust, and re-check. It is ALWAYS an iterative process, and you really can't adjust them with the weight of the car on them.

I fitted Avo adjustable shocks all round on my car, the rears I just used a vernier caliper to make sure they were all the same height and fitted them then checked the ride height. If they are like the Avo shocks then you can easily adjust them on the car and then set the rest up to suit you. I like them fairly firm.
