#1 Jelly like residue in drivers footwell

Post by jamesmatheson » Wed Jan 10, 2018 9:28 pm

Hi everyone, popped my head down into drivers footwell when having a check over of my s1.5, 2+2 and came across a small amount of yellow jelly like substance around top of the break pedal. Anyone know what this could be or is it just for lubrication. Was a little crusty around edges and jelly like in middle. Brakes work fine. Opinions would be much appreciated

Probably just grease from somewhere. Brake fluid is not jelly like unless it is mixed with paint. Worth keeping an eye on the fluid level as of course you should anyway..

Also check the brake fluid level for good order sake, could be your servo is leaking.

This is almost certainly brake fluid leaking back from the top seal of the master cylinder. I have seen this before and it is exactly as you describe.

I agree with Andrew - is weeping brake fluid that has dried out and crystallised.
