Securing seals in place

Any advice on securing the seals in place on the car
Boot seal, door seals ets
Should I use contact adhesive which is very messy or an alternative
Also what should I use under front and rear screens to ensure water tight, if anything??

I'm afraid there is no alternative to contact adhesive . Hutson's will sell you a tin of the stuff they use, and the trick that they advise is to brush a thin layer onto the metal and leave that to go off for 24 hours before you start . This acts as a primer for the coat which actually does the sticking

As far as screen sealants are concerned, Arbomast Autograde is the stuff - it is a non hardening sealant ( but it skins over as it cures ) which prevents the ingress of water but does not transmit shocks to the glass and is sufficiently flexible to accommodate temperature changes etc - available from Dortech . You will probably need 2 tubes for your job. It is best used from the very start i.e. before the screens and any seals are put in , you coat the metal flanges with it , and then put it in the rebate in the screen rubber before the glass is put in

Hi Spark.....whats your name....please try to put it and your car model in the signature area.......none of the seal that i have replaced have ever had any sealer on them.....and i havent used any when replaceing them....apart from the seal on the door cill and the bumpers which have to be glued in place ....never replaced a front screen but have done a rear....no sealer used.....Steve

Terrible stuff. Messy and hard to work with.

I use cyanoacrylate (Super Glue).
