Whilst I have the rear cradle out to renew the calipers I’m going to change the joints on the prop. Seems sensible given that I think they are the originals.
Now some of you will know I’m a bit of a skinflint so..... I think I’ve found that these joints are the same as thosed used on land rovers of the period and if so I can get genuine hardy spicers / GKN for less than a tenner a piece.
The type number quoted is RTC 3346 with a span of 82mm and cap size of 27mm
So before I go ahead does anyone know if these dimensions or the reference number makes sense?
Regards
Tim.

Hi Tim..ok if you want to be as tight as a ducks rear then u have to work for it...just looked up SNG....they have prop and dtive shaft uj,s on special....they show they fit most old Jags....part no jlm823 for the prop and jlm 9639 for the driveshaft......the Hardy Spicer catalogue shows there part number as FK5-13Xk (prop) and K5-Gb10R (driveshaft).. the hardy prop uj measures 88.8mm wide cap 27mm hope this helps the wallet

Nooooo dont give up Tim...nothing wrong with tying to save a few quid....half the fun of classic cars is trying to find bits to fit.....im sure the joints are the same....and you wont be dissapointed as the SNG special order is on back order.....so u will have to wait a bit....all the best...and see u at Stonleigh.. Be careful with U/Js - they come in some very weird and random sizes. Somebody mentioned 88.8mm above - you can find one that you think measures the same, but it will be a tiny bit bigger and you will spend ages struggling in vain to get the circlips in.
