Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any solid state senders available for the oil pressure and water temperature gauges?

The water sender is already solid state.....it is a thermistor They are usually pretty reliable.

Not seen a solid state oilnpresssure sender.

Caerbont manufacture Smiths gauges and senders and show oil pressure transducers that look different to the normal ones.
I did email asking if they were sold state and compatible with an original gauge but never did receive a response. If you do find out I will be interested in the answer.

You can get an oil pressure switch....as used on early models to light a lamp showing if you have pressure or not..(the small red light in the early speedo that many think is the ignition switch).....its not what your asking but a good addition... Steve

I managed to contact the guys at caigauge and unfortunately the solid state sender they do at the moment will not work with the gauge as fitted to the etype. However they are looking at producing a gauge which will work both with the sender and match the other gauges, but he couldnt give me a ETA.

I can only speak for Series 3, but all engines and oils, should be the same (street cars ). On start up, pressure should jump right up to 50/60 lbs. Nice cold thick as syrup oil . As it quickly warms up, starts to drop, as it should, it will eventually be around 10 lbs at idle, 650 to 800 rpm, and then it should show 10 lbs for every 1000 rpm's. (30 lbs for 3000 rom, etc.) Of course, you want to install a Smiths mechanical gauge . The factory original electric gauge looks nice, but totally useless, like a dumb prom date. Available from the usual suspects, less then 30 minutes to install. Happy motoring !!
