#1 Sccops in bonnet: how much space is normal ?

Hi guys,
I found that I have some space between the scoops and the inner side of the bonnet.
Now, is that normal ? Or would normally the scoop be „closed“ against the bonnet ?
I mean you cannot see this gap from the outside, and its a space where no water should be able to spray to from the wheels, so I might leave it this way.
I did not add the rubber strip on the scoop edge yet- it surely is glued on ?

Mine were about as loose as that.
As for the rubber strip, I just pushed it in place and installed the scoops.
I think the rubber strip is only for visual aesthetics, it doesn’t seal anything in or out.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info.
Now, I found some hints on the web that there are „tabs“ in front of the tip of the scoops where the scoops rest on, to prevent them from mooving and rattling ?
Anyone a picture, or is it an „early 3.8 cars only“ feature ? There‘s a thread on this very forum regarding this topic, but....
I’ve searched a lot on the Monocoque Metalworks page, to find nothing on the issue.
Are they real ? How would you slide the scoop in place and under the mysterious tab ?
Carsten
P.S. my first question about „is it a sealed space“ came up because on both my 1974 Citroen DS and 1973 SM it actually is. They used rubber strips to create a „sealed“ area.

Just finished fitting the scoops on my car. A 1966, Series 1, 2+2.
I can confirm that the little tab is there, I would say around 1 inch - 2.5 cm away from the "tip" of the scoop.
I have installed the scoops so that they rest on top of these tabs, and can confirm that it is (as usual with an E type) not an easy thing to do. I just "turned" the scoops into place after squeezing them into the bonnet opening.
Can confirm that the rubber strip is just aesthetics. Does not have a sealing function as the scoops do not touch the body anywhere.

Tab visible in this photo, I’m sure you could make something if yours are missing although it’s questionable whether they really do much.

Yes this is the first time I have seen these tabs also.
another small question.................... in the flange lip there is a notch cut out..... is that for locating the (original) rubber seal that sits under the glass ?
