Hi All,
I am fitting Weber carbs to my 4.2 and was considering options for the engine breather, do most of you use a catch tank or if you redirect into the carbs as original, how have you done this?
Thanks in advance for any response
Mark

Hi Mark,
I run a large diameter pipe from the front engine breather to a catch tank under the carbs.
I have added an extra vent pipe and filter to the tank to give two outlets.
When running, any engine vapours rise from the tank and are inducted in through the carbs.
Ensure the tank is mounted to enable any condensate to be drained from a base plug.
Regards,
Dave

Over the years I’ve seen all sorts of catch tanks, castrol oil cans, drinks bottles, beer cans.... Beer cans were preferred on old Brit iron motorbikes belonging to outlaws. No filters or valves, just somewhere to catch the drips of oil and other condensates. One Italian machine I owned had a long hose under the seat exiting over the back wheel. Two problems resulted. 1. Water found its way back up the hose into the sump, and 2. Oil mist condensed onto the back tyre.
