Hi Rory,

It can be re-chromed. However, all the tiny pits (holes) need to be ground out so you end up with the surface not being particularly straight.

It’s a compromise either way really; you either choose to keep the original that fits perfectly bit now has an uneven surface, or go for a new reproduction that probably doesn’t fit as well but looks brand new. I decided to keep the original as you need to look really hard to spot the uneveness but is newly chromed and fits beautifully.

Silvabronze did mine and did a pretty good job.

Cheers.

Thanks guys
I might try my local, Derby Plating who do really high quality work and will give me a face to face opinion
I am not expecting perfection but a bit more shiny and being original would be just fine. Being a March ‘61 car I am trying to use as many original bits as poss...it’s amazing what a good clean and polish achieves!

Many thanks again
