#1 water pump and timing cover help

Post by lee-type » Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:57 am

Good morning guys.

Soon i will be sending off my engine for machining but before i do i need to know if a E-Type water pump will work in this XJ6 timing cover?

I see that in the E-Type ones there is the little tapered pice that sticks up just be for the water inlet in to the engine block.

Have a look on the SNGB site at the waterpump gaskets....from engine number 7R1915 the gasket without the taper was used and suitable for S2 Etype and S1/S2 Xj6 https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/Englis ... 089bc1b218 what water pump are you trying to use the one with taper or without...........Steve

I think by ‘taper’ Lee means the involute, Steve, which is left off later engines to reduce cavitation risk at high rpm.

The critical thing is to match up the left side timing cover gasket and the left side of the water pump gasket so they match EXACTLY WITH inlet to the block.
