chrome finisher at top of windsreen

I am just about to have the top chrome for the windscreen on my series 2 roadster rechromed. Could anyone give me guidance on the shape of the chrome near the centre attachment for the stabiliser rod ? Mine has a wider section near the mounting - is this original or has been caused by the over tightening of the stabiliser rod?

It is bent. Straighten it out over something the same width at the rest of the channel.
