hi
exploring the interior of my car to plan a full trim in the future i realize that a crucial part is the removal of the cant rail, this piece is running over both side windows and turning under the rear window . does anyone know how to remove it in a non traumatic way ( 1968 2+2 )
happy new year to all of you

Hi Stefan
It's been a while since I removed mine, but from memory the cant rails are secured by small self tapping screws all around. If you carefully peel back the door rubber around the roof you should be able to see the metal flange of the cant rail, then follow along to identify all the screws. You do have to remove the rear side window to get access to the screws at the rear / side.

I sold my S3 2+2 before I got around to doing it, Pete. But I would imagine so. Jaguar didn't tend to change things too much!

I've just found a pair of cant rails, bought as spares for my S3 2+2, and they are the same as the S1 items. They each have 10 fixing points. 2 are only a couple of inches apart at each end, and the rest are spaced out about 9 inches apart. As mentioned above, if you pull back the door rubber (and rear side glass rubber), you will see the heads of the small self taping screws.
