I’d like to tweak the front ride height on my car up a little bit and miss the easy adjustability I’m used to on XK’s.

Has anyone fitted one of the adjustable reactor plates from the likes of Rob Beere? How much height adjustment do they give you without having to reposition the cams on the torsion bar splines?

Just fitting the XKs unlimited version now, so too early to tell. It required grinding down of the edge of frame ears by 2-3mm as they interfered with the cam locking bolts of the adjusters on my car.It appears that there will be ample adjustment available. Overall fit is acceptable , not perfect , to the original.

Hi I fitted the Rob Beere one , a doddle to fit and to adjust , takes it from being 4x4 high to low as on air ride , would recommend

+1 for the Rob Beere plate, although in my case it was a tad wider than the original and i had to grind a little off the faces of the bushes either side to get it to fit.

When fitting the Ron Bere plate did you have to release front ball joints and track rods etc to remove tension or was it possible to leave the torsion bars set under tension with bolts / dowels and remove the old reactor plate as you would if removing the engine & box for a clutch change etc?

I’ve tried to convince myself that the job doesn’t need doing but under heavy cornering two up I can hear rubbing so it’s tome to sort it.

I fitted mine as part of the restoration, with the suspension ball joints uncoupled. I also found I had to uncouple them when fine tuning the ride height (it was a tad low) as the ears were putting too much load on the cams to allow me to turn them, even with the suspension at full droop.

Just to be clear re adjusting the (adjustable version) does the tension have to be released on the torsion bars to do the actual adjustment..... Steve

Hi Steve. Yes jacking the car up and leaving the wheels on full droop was enough for me to adjust my Rob Beere reaction plate , and that includes the awkward header side

Hi Darren....thanks for that....so you cant set an acurate ride height in the workshop (unless you have good slip plates).....you need to adjust then move the car to resettle the suspension becaus its been jacked up.....then recheck the height.....Steve

Yes more or less but I find usually turning steering from lock to lock whilst moving the car a few feet settle s it to its ride height or near as dam

i bought the Rob Beere late and have never fitted it. happy to sell is someone want one
