#1 Headliner trim around interior light.

Post by paulsco » Fri Feb 08, 2019 8:47 pm

Hi,

I am just fitting the headliner 'skirts' where the interior light fits and I am wondering how best to do this.

The rubber tube with the cant rail 'skirts' sewn into it, overlaps where the interior light fits, so the tube from both sides overlaps inside the recess for the light.

Should these be cut off and the material glued around the opening?

It seems impossible to me to fit the light in this space, not to mention a fire risk?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

When I fitted mine, I just cut the tube short of the light fitting but left the matterial in place (just pulled back the material to allow the tube to be cut). I then simply stuck the material in around the light fitting arpeture. I left one side of the material longer so when both halves meet at the light fitting, there was an overlap and no gap.

I’ll see if I can find a picture.

Cheers.

Hi Simon,

I have done as you suggested; I also picked the stitching out from the headlining around the tube and cut a little excess off.
The light now fits in fine.

Thanks for your help.
