S11 Cooling Fans

My 1968 S1,5 has the later S2 radiator cooling fans. Inside the fan motor, between the end plate and the amature, there should be a thrust washer. Does anyone know what this washer is made from???.

Presumably they are either brass, copper or steel. or does it not matter

When I rebuilt my motor the washer was steel iirc but I can't be certain.
