Is the thread of the six captive studs on the back of the centre instrument console.
Of course it is. Of course you need to have six tiny, uniquely threaded nuts to lose.

I would expect BA threads in electrical instrument areas and 2 BA is almost exactly 32 tpi (31.4) but a bit fat.
There's also 3/16 BSF which is exactly 32 tpi and the nut ID would be 5/32.
If it's the stud/screw OD that is 5/32, however, and exactly 32 tpi, then you're right - it's Whitworth, same as the timing chain adjuster locknut IIRC.

First tap set I opened was my BA one expecting 3BA as you say, but surprisingly Whitworth. I guess Sir William got a job lot of the Whitworth studs in a jumble sale for thruppence ha'penny.
