#1 Brake Warning Light

Post by Barry » Fri Jul 19, 2019 7:50 am

Yesterday, I bled my brakes, which sorted out any air left in the system following the fitting of AP Racing callipers and discs. However, even with a full fluid bottle, and handbrake off, the brake warning light remains on all the time. All was fine before bleeding the brakes. Bizarre, but any ideas of how to solve this? At least it won’t stop me going on the Dorset E-type day to Montacute House and Sherborne Castle this coming Sunday.
Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry......could it be the float stuck in the fluid reservoir.....its the only thing you have touched that could cause the problem...Steve

..... or maybe the rubber cover is holding the float down. don't push it on too firmly.

Hi Barry,
If your V12 is not an early car it will have a Pressure Differential Warning Actuator (PDWA) intended to warn of loss of pressure in either front or rear brake system. Bleeding may have shuttled this into action. There is a special bleeding procedure in the ROM for cars with this feature. See section 70,25.02 https://www.dropbox.com/s/02djqexpmx1w7 ... s.pdf?dl=1.
You may need to reset the PDWA - see section 70.25.08.
Hope this helps,
Bob

Hi guys, that’s really helpful thanks. I think it is the Pressure Differential Warning that needs resetting. Mine is a late V12, one of the last 100. Just checked, and even though the brake system has been modified by Eagle, the PDW is still there. Certainly not the float, which was the first obvious thing to check, but thanks for making sure I had made sure. Finally, sorry Steve, I haven’t a clue how to put my car model on my profile. I checked through (and probably missed!!) the setting and could find anything that would allow me to add it. Above my pay grade!
Cheers Guys
Barry

You can bypass the pdwa if you want to. The standard brake pipes are just long to reach the servo on their own, but you have to swap the front and rear circuits to make them reach.

kind regards
Marek

Thanks Marek. I’m off first thing to the Dorset E-type day at Montacute House then Sherborne Castle. I’ll have another look on Tuesday. In the mean time I’ll just have to run with the light on! Brakes work really well, so nothing wrong in that department.
