#1 Covered headlamps and bonnet trim

Quiz question as I regularly see both arrangements:

Should the stainless steel trim strip between the bonnet centre section and wing run just up to, or underneath the headlamp cover trim (on covered headlamp cars)?

They butt up against the chrome ring and were shaped to follow the contour.

And they are not stainless steel!
