2+2 Door rubbers
#1 2+2 Door rubbers
Is there a special tool, or a particular knack, to refitting door rubbers into the track/slot on a S1 2+2 apart from poking and pushing with the assistance of glue to make them stay there? It’s a bugger to get them to stay in!

Run a thin bead of adhesive in/near the side of the channel that is least visible (i.e. the side away from the aperture edge and nearest the bodywork). Grip the tubular seal body and fit the relevant side of the ‘foot’ into the channel and hold it with ready-torn strips of masking tape while the glue dries.
Next day, carefully peel the tape back without dislodging the seal and press the second accessible edge of the seal foot into the nearby channel recess, using a wide-blade screwdriver with sharp edges removed. You’ll get the knack and the last yard on the second door will take you less time than the initial few inches on the first...
Of course it pays to check the channel is not pressed too flat, or painted too thickly as so many cars are, or there won’t be room for thr unique 2+2 seal. A warm workshop or climate helps, which in the UK leaves you with the second or third week of June :-(
