#1 Gearbox Breather

Post by mylesw » Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:12 am

Hello,

My 3.8 has a 4.2 all synchro box fitted, and when the box was recently overhauled it was noticed that the box is missing a breather. Having not noticed any issues prior, i am wondering whether I need to install a breather or not, and also whether I need to install a breather pipe, or just a breather valve on top of the gearbox (looks like the fitting is 3/8 BSP?). What is the view on this? Do I need a breather and if so, what should I install?

Thanks

Myles

Yee you should have a breather, same as diff should. Flexi tube on 90^ elbow, or steel tube oem or valve doesn’t matter, but just but 4.2 oarts and be done.
