Are these two pieces standard equipment on a 3.8 October 1962? Picture is from Jonathan Wood "Jaguar E type - The Complete History", and referred to the 3.8, but I haven't found them but in the 4.2.

Clausager Factory Original E Type book page 21:
Change No. RA 7324 June 1964 Lifting brackets added to cylinder head, some head studs lengthened...

Does that help? A very good book to get if you're trying to be as original as possible (with Haddocks (?) books as well)

…. This, in turn, came from the Jaguar Spares Bulletin No. A.146 (Engine) published in August 1964. Copies of these are in the Knowledgebase section of the Forum. This confirms that it is from Engine Number RA.7324

The Service and Spares Bulletins are an excellent source of information as to when changes occurred on the cars. Most of the books on the market are quoting from these when they refer to when changes were made.

It was my understanding that the longer studs and engine lifting brackets were fitted from June ‘64
My March ‘62 OTS has them, yet engine block is original but the head may have been changed ..probably added later
