Hi All
Just thought I'd let you know a couple of things that a lot of you will already know but some won't-I did'nt
Engine mountings---Mine were flat and dead so bought somenew Jag ones from one of the big suppliers(I don't think we are allowed to say who),put them on and the engine acted as if it was on jelly ,the throttle slave arm would stick and a float chamber rattled against the peddle box.Bought some new ones from Bob Beere racing and my world is transformed.
Bottom hose---mine split so again bought a new one from same supplier.860 miles later it split again. Now I've got racing silicone hoses on from ,of course,Rob and am confident enough for anything.Don't go for Kevlar 'cos they are not as you may imagine as a kevlar web covered in rubber but a rubber/kevlar fibre mix that's useless.
Hope this helps a few Simon

The biggest pain in my backside other than Banks is poor quality repro parts. I will only fit silicone hoses to my sales cars and they last forever.
If only they could make things as good as they use to.

Simon : you do not say which model you have , but something which is not widely known is that all 4.2 litre cars should have a spacer about 5mm thick under the right hand engine mount which prevents the lower parts of the throttle linkage from hitting the frame

Simon, I'd only fit Robs engine mounts. However, I noticed that my carbs were touching against the frames the other day so had to fit the spacer Chris mentions. Have to say, I didn't think I'd have to with these mounts but they have definately settled after 4000 miles or so.Simon Bolton wrote:Hi All

#5 Mounts
Thanks for replies and yes I too have the spacer although Rob had not come across them. The resulting problem of the new mounts though is that the exhaust is now so close to the body I get an occasional clatter.I think it calls for a little judicious work with a bar!
