#1 Noise in the front at very low speeds on a pothole or speed bump

It has gotten worse, louder and more often. Almost always on the left side.
Ball joints, steering rack and torsion bars seem ok. I reduced tyre pressure from 2,2 to 1,9 in the 205 XWX, but this didn´t help much.
Where shall I continue to search?
(everything is in very good condition, and a very good workshop can´t understand the problem and source).

Do you have new or original spinners as the new ones often don’t secure the wheels as tight as they could ?
Just a thought

Jack up the front and check for play in the wheelbearings..check splined hubs and splines in the wheel and the mating surfaces of wheels to hubs and as above spinners.....also check all the bushes on the top/bottom wishbones and dampers....Steve

Hi Peder,
What sort of noise - creak, clunk, knock, squeek? Mine developed a creaking noise in similar circumstances which I eventually traced to PO not tightening the lower wishbone fulcrum nuts fully - one was finger tight, although all the split pins were in place.

One similar that drove me nuts for days of investigation: the 2 lower bolts on the right bonnet hinge were a bit loose. Maybe worth checking.

Many good thoughts. Thank you.
The spinners are the original, but refurbished.
The garage guy did mention the bonnet hinge, but we didn´t explore further.
The front right wheel bearing is a tiny bit loose. But moving to the next hole, for the locking pin, might make it too tight.
I will pursue the bearing and hinge suggestions when I go there next, and report back.

Remember a taper bearing is better off slightly tight than slightly loose
If its loose then it's not mating up to the back half of the bearing cup correctly which is its basic function as this is what it rolls on
If its slightly loose then at one point or wont be running on its bearing race and this means it wont be bearing the weight of the vehicle correctly,
It will put the bearing under more pressure than if it was slightly tight as it's designed to bear the weight and stress over the combined entire surfaces of the bearing races
Bearings are designed to withstand pressure
It's not a good idea to rive around with loose wheel bearings
Just saying :)

Well, maybe so but remember that the end float is specified to allow for expansion in the hub as it warms up in use.

Make sure the engine frame bolts are tight (particularly on the bulkhead).
